Louise was seven years old when she was forced to go to Blue Quills Residential School, St. Paul, Alberta. She stayed there for nine years. She left her home at sixteen and ended all ties with her family. She was able to finish her education at St. Paul’s High School. Halfe was a high school student and discovered a passion for writing. Halfe started a journal to record her life experiences and memories.
